- Q: How to remove and replace the crankshaft seal on a balancer on 1985 Mercedes-Benz 300TD?A: Take off the radiator and cooling fan and the drivebelts. Indicate the location of the crankshaft pulley and remove the crankshaft pulley and lock the balancer. Lift the balancer off using a puller and change the crankshaft seal when it is broken. Wipe the new seal, reattach the balancer and the pulley, and fix everything and then reattach the fan and radiator.
