How to remove and install a starter motor on 1985 Mercedes-Benz 300TD?

Unhook the negative battery cable and lift the car on jackstands. Take out starter solenoid wires, clasp bolts and lower steering track rod to get clearance. Starter bolts should be removed with an Allen wrench. In the automatic models, take away the filler tube bolt. Slowly remove the starter and replace in the reverse position, screwing the track rod bolt.
