How to remove and install the parking brake cables on 1987 Mercedes-Benz 300TD?

Get the car on jackstands, perhaps by dropping the exhaust. Unscrew the adjusting bolt, unhook the return spring and release the intermediate lever. Take off the cable in front of the cable and trim panel remove the inner and outer cables then pull the cable. Install backwards and rearrange the parking brake.
