Mercedes-Benz 300TD Bumper Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and install the front and rear bumpers on Mercedes-Benz 300TD?
    A:
Loosen the nut mounting the bracket to take out the front bumper and pull the bumper forward. Installation consists of reversing the de-install steps, making sure to grease the rubber end covers with either soapy water or rubber lubricant where available, and to ensure the bumper fits in the side brackets where the end covers are rubber-less. To remove the rear bumper on station wagon models, take out the lens in the backup light and fog light, loosen the connection of the wiring and then remove the reflector. When the model has central lock, disconnect the vacuum reservoir tube before pulling off the bumper. They can all be disassembled by removing mounting nuts and pulling the bumper (and vacuum tank where present) back. Installation should proceed in the same reversing manner, taking care, where the rubber end covers are present, to lubricate them edges, and where no such a cover is in place, to ensure that the bumper inserts into the side brackets.
