Prior to removing the tie-rod end, it is required to loosen the wheel is connected with a series of wheel bolts and elevate the front part of the car before placing the vehicle well on jackstands with the parking brake. Take out the wheel and be careful to hold the vehicle on its frame and not its suspension parts. The second thing to do is to loosen the end of the tie- rod jam nut while one is holding the tie-rod using a wrench. Place a mark on the tie-rod end to indicate the location of the threaded section of the tie-rod relative to the tire thrown to maintain the same toe setting when restoring the wheel later. Then relocate the nut on the tie-rod end ballstud, without taking it off, and then double-take the tie-rod end off the steering knuckle arm using a balljoint separator tool or puller, taking care not to lose the nut on the ballstud (which may produce its own violence). Should it be necessary to replace the tie-rod end, unscrew old and thread new tie-rod end onto the tie-rod to location marked. To install, screw the tie-rod end into a steering load knuckle arm, clamp onto the ballstud with a new nut and screw it to a recommended tightness. Install the wheel again, bring the vehicle down to the ground and tighten the wheel bolts to the required torques. Lastly, make sure to get the front end alignment inspected and repaired as required.
