The Mercedes-Benz C300 Starter converts battery energy into an immediate spin of the crankshaft and provides the turbo four with the jump-start it requires in any conditions. A compact gear-reduction design is a way of multiplying torque without bulk accumulation; hence the engine is fired at fewer revolutions and fuel economy gains. The unit is compatible with sedans, coupes, cabriolets, and estates based on the W205 platform between 2014 and 2021, allowing owners of Mercedes-Benz to easily alternate between rear-wheel and 4MATIC versions without worry that a different component is doing the work on the C300 this time. Around the heavy casing rotates an armature in coils of wire that are slowly wound, and a form of overrunning clutch unlocks the drive gear as soon as combustion is reached to prevent damage to windings and avoid coarse grinding.
