On 2001 to 2005 V6s, the CMP sensor is on the front of the right cylinder head. Start by dismantling the engine cover, and then unplugging the electrical connector of the CMP sensor by pushing the release tab. Then loosen the sensor mounting bolt and extract CMP sensor. The removal and replacement of the old CMP sensor O-ring are required irrespective of whether the old sensor is being re-used or whether it is being installed. Removal of installation occurs in reverse order. On 2006 and later V6s the CMP sensors are located at the front of the cylinder heads, and there are a total of four sensors; one per intake and exhaust camshaft. Begin by taking off the front engine cover then the left or right duct of fresh air intake. Disassemble the electrical connector on the CMP sensor pressing the release tab and remove CMP sensor mounting bolt. During installation again change the old CMP sensor O-ring with a new one. In 2002 four-cylinder models the CMP sensor has been mounted on the top of the valve cover on the left. Lift the engine cover, unplug the electrical connector and remove the CMP sensor stripping off the mounting bolt. Before re-installation a new O-ring should be used to replace the damaged one. All 2003-2005 models with 2003-2005 four-cylinder engines have 2 CMPs: the intake sensor is located on the top of the valve cover to the left of the ignition coil (cylinder No. 3) whereas the exhaust sensor is located to the right side of the cylinder head, below the valve cover. Unscrew the electrical connections of the two sensors, knock out all the mounting screws, and remove the sensors themselves. Just as it has always done before, use new O-Rings when installing.
