In order to take out steering wheel, park the car with the wheels facing in a straight line and stretch the steering wheel in your direction making sure the ignition key is in ACC position in the car with electrically adjustable columns. Take off the negative battery cable, next, take off the two airbag module clips, and elevate the steering wheel airbag module very carefully. Disconnect the electricity connector of the airbag module, horn, and other parts and disassemble the module. Then remove the steering wheel retaining bolt, showing the relationship of the steering wheel hub to the steering shaft as the steering wheel slides off, leaving the clockspring wire harness through the steering wheel hub. Avoid rotation of one of the clockspring mounting screws by loosening them. In a similar manner, when required, delete the clockspring pull out the mounting bolt of the steering column module and distinguish it out of the column, however on models produced prior to July 7, 2002 the steering column module must not separate. In order to install the clockspring you have to loosen the mounting screws and have to take all the switches and the module cover off, and you must remember where the module has its mounting bolt. To install, install steering column module, and keep airbag clockspring in the middle of the column and front wheels straight ahead. Rotate the clockspring so that it turns counterclockwise until it is in position; it should then be rotated clockwise three to three point five turns until the mounting screws are aligned. Then the reverse of removal, centering the clockspring then mounting the steering wheel, then passing the wire harness past, connecting the hub with the tabs, and referencing the marks made in the earlier steps. Install a new steering wheel retaining loop and screw it to the required torque, then abstract the airbag part and screw it tight to the required torque then turn on the airbag system.
