How to disconnect the battery and remove the steering column cover on 2006 Mercedes-Benz C280?

Disconnect the cable from the battery's negative terminal. Remove the steering wheel. Loosen the Torx screw, then, after loosening the lower cover, slide off the cover and switches to remove the steering column cover. Reinstall in reverse order, ensuring the clockspring is centered before installing the steering wheel.
