Refitting will require new caliper guide pin bolts. The first step is to use the parking brake, lift the front side of the car and make it rest on axle stands. Take out the front roadwheels and follow the required procedure. Open the retaining clips and the pad wear sensor wiring connector cover recently installed into the caliper aperture, and disconnect the wear sensor connector to the caliper housing. In models prior to 1985, it is necessary to loosen and remove the upper guide pin and pivot the caliper downwards; in models after 1985 removing the guide pin is impossible unless the guide pin is rotated and removed by discarding the guide pin bolt connected to the fixed guide pin. Turn the caliper away, around the brake pads and mounting bracket, and lift off the heat shield on the piston of the caliper assembly, where fitted. Take off the two caliper mounting bracket brake pad, and carefully observe the part that the wear sensor was correctly installed. The thickness of the friction material of each brake pad; and in case requires a minimum thickness, against which thickness any one of the friction material of the four pads has worn away, or in case disposed of by oil or grease, all four pads need replacement. By this means, the servicing of the brake pads is possible provided that the wear sensor is not damaged and that the pads are clean. Make sure that the pins move freely in the caliper bracket and ensure the guide pin gaiters are not damaged. Brush dust and dirt off the caliper and piston, and examine the dust seal and the piston itself, checking they are not in any state of deterioration that could necessitate caliper repair. In case the brake pads will be changed, hashing the caliper piston in the cylinder with the help of the G-clamp or some other lever observing the level of fluid in the master cylinder reservoir. Put a smear of grease to the back plate of each pad but do not apply so much grease that it will touch or feel the friction material. Snap pad wear sensor into position and attach pads to the caliper mounting bracket intending the friction material to be contacting the brake disc with the pad containing wear sensor being the inner pad. Install the heat shield by clipping it into the pillar of the caliper piston, pivot the caliper off the pads and run the wiring of the wear sensor through the opening of the caliper. Install the pad anti-rattle springs properly, push caliper down and screw in new guide pin bolt, tightening to correct torque level. Reconnect the wear sensor wiring connector to the caliper with the extra wiring being placed around the connector. Eases the brake peddle until the pads have solid contact with the brake disc and returns the pedal to a normal operating state. Repeat with the other front brake caliper, reattach the roadwheels, get the car to the ground, screw the roadwheel bolts to the and so on. Lastly, thoroughly check the level of hydraulic fluid and ensure that the braking system is functioning properly before the vehicle gets back on the road.
