Refitting will also require a new cylinder head gasket and it may also need new cylinder head bolts. As a precaution before driving out the cylinder head remove the inlet manifolds and exhaust manifolds intact otherwise the cylinder head will bang against the block. Firstly, unscrew the battery negative lead, raise the bonnet and empty the cooling system. Take out the air cleaner assembly, and camshaft sprocker, timing chain upper guide rail, and auxiliary drivebelt. Disconnect cylinder head exhaust front pipes, dipstick guide lube, throttle cable and coolant hoses. Unscrew mounting strut of the inlet manifold and eliminate wiring plugs and vacuum lines, disscrew union nut of the brake servo vacuum hose. In fuel injection models, depressurise the fuel system and remove the case lines of the fuel supply and the return lines. Unbolt bracket of air conditioning pipes where applicable, loosal the control pressure cable on automatics with automatic transmission, and loosal the hose clip on the bypass hose of the coolant pump. Unplug radiator top hose, inspect around emission control system, Disconnect all the hoses, pipes, and wires involved. Loosen the bolts holding the cylinder head attached to the timing chain cover, loosen the bolts attaching the cylinder head after loosening the loop successively and take them away. Carefully rock the cylinder head out of the block (with help preferably) and replace the cylinder head gasket. The manifolds may be taken off as desired, and the mating faces of the block and cylinder head carefully cleaned. Look at the nicks and scratches and, otherwise, examine a straight-edge if warpage is suspected. Erase the bolt holes and inspect the threads, as needed, with a tap. Test the length of each bolt and decide whether the bolt should be renewed or not. When refitting, we must correctly install the new gasket, lay the cylinder head on the block, grease the threads and contact faces on the bolts, and secure them in the required sequence and sequence. Install all removed parts, reattach hoses and wiring and ensure all this is correctly reconnected. Lastly, fill the cooling system, reattach the negative lead of the battery, and engine test to make sure things are not leaking.
