Lightly lubricate the bonnet release mechanism and cable with a suitable grease. If an electric aerial is fitted, extend the aerial, remove all traces of dirt from its mast, lubricate the mast with a light general-purpose oil, and then retract the aerial. For models with a sunroof, slide the roof fully back, clean the sunroof guide rails, apply a smear of fresh multi-purpose grease to the rails, and close the sunroof.
- Q: How to remove and refit of the door lock and central locking solenoid on Mercedes-Benz 190E?A:The front door exterior handle is removed firstly by dismantling the exterior handle before loosening the inner door handle connecting rod off the door guide and letting it disconnect with the lock lever. On cars that have central locking, remove the water deflector that is molded of plastic at the top of the door and disconnect the wiring and vacuum connection at the central locking solenoid. The next step is to unscrew screws keeping the door lock and for central locking, the screws fronting the central locking solenoid. Lastly, disassemble the door lock and delete it and the solenoid lock that is located between the door panel. To refit, fit them in the same sequence in which they were removed, so that when attaching the water deflector to cars with a central locking mechanism, they slide up the back of the window guiding channel and are clipped at the top of the door.
