Mercedes-Benz 190E Speedometer Cable Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and refit of the Speedometer Cable on Mercedes-Benz 190E?
    A:
To remove the speedometer cable, first disconnect the battery negative terminal. Next, remove the cover under the facia on the driver's side. Working under the facia, detach the air duct to the right-hand vent for access to the rear of the instrument panel. Unscrew the speedometer cable retaining nut and withdraw the cable, pulling it into the engine compartment while releasing it from any brackets or support clips. Jack up the front of the car and support it on axle stands. From under the car, undo the cable retaining bolt on the side of the gearbox or automatic transmission and withdraw the cable, then release it from the support clips below and to the side of the transmission before removing it completely. For refitting, follow the reverse order of the removal process.
