New mounting clamp retaining nuts will be required on refitting. Begin by chocking the rear wheels, firmly applying the parking brake, jacking up the front of the vehicle, and supporting it on axle stands before removing both front roadwheels. Next, undo the retaining screws to remove the plastic undercover from beneath the engine/transmission. Make alignment marks between the mounting bushes and sway bar, then unscrew the retaining nuts to remove the mounting clamps securing the sway bar to the suspension lower arms. Slacken and remove the nuts and bolts securing the mounting clamps to the body brackets, then free the sway bar and manoeuvre it out from underneath the vehicle; if necessary, unbolt and remove the mounting brackets from the vehicle body. Inspect the mounting rubbers for signs of damage or deterioration and renew as necessary. For refitting, where necessary, refit the sway bar mounting brackets to the vehicle body and tighten the retaining bolts to the specified torque. Lubricate the mounting bushes with soapy water and slide them into position, aligning the mounting rubbers with the marks made prior to removal while manoeuvring the sway bar into position. Engage the mounting rubbers with the body brackets and refit the mounting clamps, inserting the clamp bolts and fitting the new nuts, tightening them lightly. Locate the outer mounting rubbers in the lower arm brackets, fit the mounting clamps, and screw on the new clamp nuts. Ensure that the marks made prior to removal are correctly aligned, then tighten all the clamp nuts to the specified torque setting. Finally, refit the plastic undercover, fit the roadwheels, lower the vehicle to the ground, and tighten the wheel bolts to the specified torque.
