Removing of upper shock absorber locknut in the engine compartment, whilst retaining lower nut with the second wrench, without allowing shock absorber shaft to turn. Hold the top of the shock absorber shaft with the wrench and remove the bottom nut then the washers and the rubber grommet. Lift the front of the car and place it safely on jackstands and then remove the front wheel(s). Check out the two bottom shock absorber bolts with an appropriate socket and a box wrench to the inner bolt is required in case of clearance problems. Once the shock absorber is removed off the vehicle, take any necessary parts off the old shock absorber body and place them to the new shock absorber body by taking off the shaft circlip. Assemble the parts on the new shock absorber, and then fit it with the shaft in the upper mounting hole and the lower mounting bolts. In the case of gas charged shock absorbers, a jack could possibly be required under the hub to lift the shaft up into the engine compartment. Lastly, mounting rubber, washer and nut should be installed and keep the shaft in place using wrench to tighten the nut before fixing the locking nut and tightening all the fasteners to the correct torque once the vehicle is lowered to ground.
