Mercedes-Benz C320 Air Filter Box Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and install the air filter box and air intake hose on Mercedes-Benz C320?
    A:
On V6 models that have an external air filter housing, the air filter housing itself is located in the right front corner of the engine compartment and is connected to the Throttle Body by an air intake duct including a resonator tacked to the engine. The air intake duct can then be removed by unconnecting the PCV fresh air inlet hose, unbolting the resonator and loosening the hose clamps at both ends of the duct. Then, unscrew the air intake duct, cut off the wearer of the electrical connector of Mass Air Flow/Intake Air Temperature sensor, and unscrew the housing of air filter, and installation is the reverse. In cars with an integral engine cover/air filter housing (such as 2001 and later V6s) the two air filter housings are constituted as a part of the main engine cover. To disassemble this assembly, unscrew the front retaining clips and locator pin, peel off the fresh air intake ducts, and lift the cover/filter housing in one whole, and install it in the same order in reverse. On four cylinder models manufactured in 2002, two types of air filter housings can be front of engine compartment. With the original air filter housing, looseness the connection of air intake pipe, electrical connection between MAF/IAT sensor and electrical connecting tract, and air flow intake duct then carefully remove the air filter housing. With that air filter housing which comes later you can first loosen the screw which holds it in place, then you can detach the air inlet pipe and the connecting duct and then remove it. To dismantle Negative battery terminal, air duct, and hose at the rear of the air filter housing and the electrical connections at the Powertrain Control Module, MAF sensor, and altitude sensor on 2003 through 2005 four-cylinder models. Also, unscrew the PCV crankcase ventilation hose, loosen the hose clamp with air intake duct and unscrew the two bolts of air filter housing in the duct. Lastly, just grab the back of the housing and lift it upwards and towards the firewall to remove it out of its rubber mounts, with installation being the opposite of dismounting it.
