Mercedes-Benz C320 Windshield Wiper Motors Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and replace the front windshield wiper motors and linkage on Mercedes-Benz C320?
    A:
Begin by placing the wipers in the parked position and opening the hood by pushing the button on the left support strut to raise it fully. Next, remove the windshield wiper arm retaining nuts and washers, noting the L mark on the passenger side, and mark the position of each wiper arm relative to its shaft before removing them. Take off the outer cover from the engine compartment fuse and relay box, unplug the electrical connector at the back, and free the harness, including the wiper motor wiring connector. Remove the gasket from the water collector and detach the wiper wiring harnesses from their retainers, along with the clips securing the water collector to the windshield base and the drain tubes. For models with convenience automatic air conditioning, disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor in the center of the water collector. Unscrew the water collector near the wiper arm shafts and remove the end pieces, then pull the water collector upward to detach it from the molding on the windshield frame and take it out of the vehicle. Remove the wiper linkage bolts, cut the tie wrap securing the wiring harness, and take out the linkage along with the bracket. Cut any tie wraps securing the wiper motor wiring harness to the linkage, and carefully pry the linkage off the wiper motor crank arm using a trim removal tool or a large screwdriver. Remove the nut attaching the actuator arm to the motor shaft, mark the relationship of the actuator arm to the motor shaft, and then take off the actuator arm. Finally, remove the motor mounting bolts and the motor itself, ensuring that installation is done in reverse order while aligning the previously made marks on the actuator arm, motor shaft, windshield wiper arms, and wiper arm shafts.
