The tensioner is to be eliminated by disconnecting (removing) the battery negative lead, lifting (fully) the bonnet, unscrewing timing chain tensioner cover nut and withdrawal of spring and sealing ring. With a large Allen key or hexagon bit, unscrew the tensioner threaded ring and pull out of the housing then take out the tensioner plunger/body assembly. Put tensioner plunger and locking clip out of tensioner body. To clean, wash the pieces and see whether there is any damage or wear or tear in the plunger and body, and replace the locking clip and tensioner spring where appropriate. To refit, place the tensioner body into the housing, screw the threaded ring in, tighten, pop the plunger with the locking clip into the body, place the spring and a new sealing ring on the cover nut then screw it on to the tensioner body tighten. Re-Connect the negative lead of the battery. In order to remove the camshaft sprocket, replace the upper timing chain cover, the engine rotated to locate engine No 1 piston at TDC and timing chain tensioner has been removed. Mark reference posts on the camshaft sprocket and the next timing chain link, unscrew the securing bolts, and pull out the sprocket with tension remaining in the chain. Check the wear of teeth of the sprockets, replacing where required. To refit make sure timing marks correspond, insert the sprocket in the chain using a sprocket and lock it using bolts. Have the timing chain tensioner refitted and ensure that the engine is turned after refitting. On crankshaft sprocket, heat to about 50o C, cut tensioner rail related to timing chain off, and cover sump opening. Remove the lubs on an oil pump drive chain link, hold the chain and spin the crankshaft sprocket out of the gear with a puller. Inspect the sprocket when required. When refitting, warm up the sprocket, place it in line with the key and slide it over onto the crankshaft. Install the timing chain about these two sprockers, re-attach the drive chain of the oil pump with another one, and tie it down. Install the timing chain tensioner rail and top, install the oil pump drive chain Tensioner Rail and tensioner Rail connecting the engine to the drive pin. In the case of the guide rail, alignment marks are made by first rotating the engine so that No 1 piston reaches TDC, then using the lower timing chain cover. Take out camshaft sprocket, release the clips in retaining it and pull away the parts of the guide rails. Check wear or damage and replace where needed. To refit the chain drill the inner section in, then lay the chain into the rail and clamp the outer section in place. Install new camshaft sprocker and bottom timing selection door. With the tensioner rail, swing the engine so that No 1 piston is placed at TDC, strip away the lower timing chain cover and draw up an alignment marks. Move the tensioner rail out of the pivot pin and check for wear or wear and tear and replace. To refit, insert the rail until it snaps up into place, into position relative to the pivot pin and timing marks, then fit the lower timing chain cover back in place.
