When the inside race remains on the flange, a knife-edge bearing puller may be used to take it off. The next step is to remove the hub bearing retaining circlip of the hub carrier, hold the hub carrier in place and press the hub bearing out with an appropriate tubular spacer. Clean the hub carrier bear good and tip out all the dirt and grease, polish all burrs or raised edges that may hinder reassembly, and replace the circlip in case of doubt of its condition. When reassembling, use a small amount of clean engine oil on the outer race of the bearing so that it can be easy to install. Install the bearing in the hub carrier and press completely in place and makes sure it drops into place squarely with an appropriate tubular spacer that touches the outside race of the bearing only. Last, hold the bearing inner race and fully press the hub flange into the bearing, ensure that it turns freely and then re-fit the rear carrier of the hub.
