Removing throttle cable: To remove throttle cable, detach throttle cable inner portion of throttle cable guide lever by prising out square block retaining throttle cable at the slot in throttle cable guide lever bracket. Then connect the cable outer out of the support bracket by pressing the holes of the plastic retainer and pulling it out. At the footwell of the driver, the return spring should be unhooked, the circlip (where present) pried off and the return cable inner removed at the top of the pedal arm. Take care when inserting the cable outer through the bulkhead grommet that the inner bulkhead grommet is not removed. At the outer bulkhead remove the rubber grommet and pull the cable through the grommet in the inner bulkhead into the engine compartment. To refit, follow the removal steps in reverse, making sure to align the operation of the linkage and cable then reconnect to the throttle linkage. To adjust it, especially when it is on a vehicle with ASR traction control device, then it will be better to have a professional do it. Ensure that throttle cable and linkage work freely, are not stiff or bound, cable is not kinked, and lubricate linkage where needed. Return the throttle cable inner to the throttle body, slip it through the slot on the side of the throttle lever and use a device to pry the connecting lever off the ball joint socket on the throttle lever. Adjust the idle speed end stop upward until the roller fits into position against the guide lever and then use the slack of the clamp screw to increase or decrease the length of the connecting lever so that it fits freely. Plug the accelerator inner back to the guide lever and, depending on the model type, unstrip the control pressure cable. On models that have an adjustable full throttle stop, assure that there is no free-play of the throttle cable inner nipple against the compression spring and that the guide lever switch the idle microswitch. Change the position of the stop pin in the foot-well of the driver, shift the throttle body to the full throttle position, and lock the stop pin in the same position without any movement. Check again and re-adjust where necessary, before refitting the control pressure cable on auto-transmit vehicles. When the model does not have an adjustable full throttle stop, depress the accomplice completely on the accelerator vasicule or touch the kickdown switch making certain that the throttle lever is in contact with the full throttle oversee on the throttle body, and modify accordingly. Depress the accelerator pedal so that the linkage roller cannot touch the idle speed stop, and the nipple at the end of the accelerator cable inner should be against the compression spring with no free-play, and the guide lever should move the idle microswitch. Adjust the nut on the accelerator end of the pedal cable, where required and re-fit the control pressure cable on cars with automatic transmission.
