This distributor is attached to the front of the cylinder head in a longitudinal manner. First of all unclip and get rid of the plastic cover. Take particular note of the firing order, and then unclip the HT leads of the distributor cap when it is needed, though armor plating at this point likely does not exist. Unscrew and loosen then remove the screws, then remove the distributor cap. Take the screws away and tear the rotor arm off the follower. Unscrew the centre bolt and remove the follower off the end of the camshaft. Removing plastic cover and O-ring seal, replacing the seal in the case it is wrinkled and torn. When refitting, assemble the plastic covering and O-ring seal, and apply the follower to the end of the camshaft so that the slot on the follower hub slides into the locating pin at the end of the camshaft. Install the centre bolt and screw it to a required torque. Connect the rotor arm to the follower and screw in the retaining screws and tighten them to the desired torque. Install distributor cap on top of the rotor arm, being careful not to scratch the centre carbon brush, and screw in and screw up the screws that hold the cap retaining screws. Reconnect the spark plug HT leads that go back to the distributor cap and make sure they are in the right order of firing. It should be mentioned that because the ignition system is triggered by the crankshaft position sensor, the plain setting of the basic ignition timing will not be affected by the elimination of the distributor components, thus no re-setting of this element will be necessary.
