Mercedes-Benz 190E Sway Bar Link Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and refit the Sway Bar Link on Mercedes-Benz 190E?
    A:
New Sway Bar link nuts will be required on refitting. Begin by chocking the front wheels, applying the parking brake, and jacking up the rear of the vehicle, supporting it on axle stands before removing the appropriate roadwheel. Next, undo the retaining screws to take off the protective cover from the base of the lower arm. Slacken and remove the nut that secures the sway bar link to the anti-roll bar, then unscrew the nut and bolt that secure the sway bar link to the lower arm, removing it from the vehicle. Inspect the sway bar link for any signs of wear or damage and renew if necessary. For refitting, manoeuvre the sway bar link into position and fit the lower retaining bolt, followed by a new nut on the sway bar link stud, tightening it to the specified torque. Then, fit a new nut to the lower retaining bolt and tighten it to the specified torque. Refit the protective cover to the lower arm, securely tightening its retaining screws, and finally, reattach the roadwheel, lower the vehicle to the ground, and tighten the wheel bolts to the specified torque.
