Vacuum pump could be reached by means of dismounting the retaining bolts. Small screwdrivers may also be used to hold the timing chain out of the way so that the timing device wheel can be removed, but it is important to ensure that the screwdriver is held firmly to prevent it falling. The spacer and washer may be shifted off the shaft, and the intermediate shaft with the bearing bushing mounted at the rear of the housing may be removed. Timing chain tensioner and chain retainer can be dismantled or removed out of the housing and timing chain rails can be removed taking the retaining bolts and bearing bolt pins out by either slide hammer tool or by making fabricated tool by means of bolt, washers and socket or tube. An upper rail pin may be lifted out of the housing, and then the pivot bolt, rail pin and the rail may be removed. Lastly, the TDC sensor and closing plug are to be pulled out and the inner and outer slide rails can be pulled out.

Dump the engine oil then loosen all except one of the bottom oil pan bolts after which the pan is lowered with great care to avoid any remaining oil.
