Mercedes-Benz 300TD Steering Wheel Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and install a steering wheel on Mercedes-Benz 300TD?
    A:
Then remove the negative cable at the battery and get it out of the way so one will not accidentally touch the negative terminal and cause power to flow back to the electrical system of the vehicle. On models that were made before September 1979, the horn pad should be removed, or on more recent models, the motif logo on the steering wheel pad should be carefully removed with a small screwdriver. The relative positions of the steering wheel and inner column are to be marked with the front wheels facing straight forward. Unscrew or unnut screw off the steering wheel retaining screw with an appropriate Allen head wrench or socket, although an older model may be opened with an Allen wrench. Take the steering wheel off the shaft splines and in the installation process, retrace the process done earlier ensuring that the marks previously made are aligned properly and screw or bolt secured to the required torque.
