Mercedes-Benz C240 Fuel Filter

The Mercedes-Benz C240 Fuel Filter maintains the well-being of the engine of the sedan, filtering out dirt, rust, water, and the rest before they are allowed to reach the vulnerable pumps and injectors. In the case of modern gasoline and diesel blends, the contaminants in storage tanks and hoses are transferred, and the absence of a powerful filter makes these particles rub against the inside parts, strip the fuel, cause rough starts, stalling, or slow acceleration. All Mercedes-Benz vehicles have a coarse mesh called the in-tank strainer that coexists with the electric fuel pump within the tank, but most of them have a second finer barrier installed in-line between the tank and the engine. On electronic fuel-injected models of this car, this style of cartridge filter fits either underneath the car or in the engine bay and uses pleated paper to trap grit of a microscopic size whilst still allowing even flow in a threaded or quick-disconnect fitting. The previous models of carbureted Mercedes-Benz had a similar filter close to the carburetor inlet, but the diesel models use a bowl-shaped Fuel Filter and water separator, which can also be drained to prevent corrosion and microbial sludge formation, and a heater is sometimes included to prevent the formation of wax in cold climates. No matter the design applied, the filter has to be replaced as per the factory-stipulated time, as once the media becomes congested, even a well-tuned Mercedes-Benz will find it difficult to breathe. A new Fuel Filter helps to resume pressure, safeguards costly injectors, and ensures that every C240 is running smoothly.

Mercedes-Benz C240 Fuel Filter Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and install a fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator on Mercedes-Benz C240?
    A:
Unload the fuel system pressure, and remove the cable of the negative battery terminal. Lift up the vehicle and place it on jackstands. Take the left off under-cover by peeling off the nuts on the front and back afterwhich you draw off the cover in a straight line downwards. Take off the fuel hoses in both ends of the fuel filter that may have special hose clamps attached. Unscrew the bolt of the fuel filter, and remove the filter. Removal is the opposite of installation.
