Mercedes-Benz Distributor

The Mercedes-Benz Distributor supplies precise high voltage pulses to all of the plugs in the correct sequence, providing crisp starts and smooth power to each engine in the lineup. Housed above the camshaft, it spins in rhythm with crank speed and is dependent on an electronic Hall sensor to time the ignition events and the goal is to maintain spark energy at all rpm, which it does. This Distributor also frees owners from constant adjustments once required by breaker points, improving drivability, fuel economy, and overall reliability while still fitting neatly into existing engine architectures across the brand. Now turning to the automaker itself, Mercedes-Benz has gained a global reputation for combining elegant styling with cutting edge technology. From the voice controlled MBUX infotainment system to the forthcoming MB.OS software platform that unifies driver assist features, battery management, and artificial intelligence, the company continues to advance digital innovation that makes daily driving easier and safer. Its investment in energy recovery for hybrid and electric models illustrates a serious commitment to sustainability without giving up performance or luxury. Decades of German engineering heritage means that every vehicle offers solid build quality, quiet cabins, and confident handling that appeal to families, professionals, and enthusiasts alike. Whether you choose a compact sedan or a full size SUV, you can expect refined comfort, sharp design, and future ready connectivity that keep the brand at the forefront of the automotive world.

Mercedes-Benz Distributor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and refit the distributor on EZL and TSZ ignition systems on Mercedes-Benz 190E?
    A:
EZL ignition models use the sensor crankshaft position as a trigger, the distributor only passes a high tension voltage to the spark plugs, and the ignition timing can not be adjusted by turning the distributor body. The distributor may be removed by first disconnecting the battery negative lead and then loosening the screws to remove the distributor cap. Bring No 1 piston to top dead center (TDC) retain good position in the case of removing and refitting. Once the clamp bolt has been loosened, remove the distributor body off of the crankcase and examine the O-Ring oil seal whether you see evidence of wear or leakage. In refitting: to refit, when not rotated all the way through TDC but with the rotor arm aligned to the alignment marking and the clamp bolt hole aligned to the long slot, insert distributor into the crank case. Insert clamp bolt after which the screws and the screwdriver should be substituted with the distributor hose end. Models utilizing TSZ ignitions are activated, in contrast, by a sensor within the distributor and the ignition timing retests and corrections are necessary during removal. The removal can be carried out in the same manner with the following initial steps, de-connection of vacuum unit hose and sensor wiring, marking of alignment of the distributor to be refitted. Once the distributor has been removed out of the crankcase with the O-ring seal, the refitting procedure is the same, except there is an additional step to fix the vacuum unit hose and sensor wiring back and to verify and reset ignition timing as required.
