To replace the air cleaning element, remove the fastening nuts of the top cover of the air cleaner, unscrew, and remove the air filter element, then grip the cover around the upper section and pry all tensioning clips open. , Be sure to remove the air cleaner cover, pry off crankcase breather hose (where applicable) and air filter element. The procedure to refit involves reversing the steps used to remove the old filter; the filter element thus attached must be in the proper position as characterized by the markings on the top side of the element. In the case of the air cleaner assembly, remove any screw which may be running through it, undo the ducting on the inlet side, which joins the air cleaner with the air scoop in the front of the engine bay. Unless otherwise, disconnect the crankcase breather hose around the port located on the same side as the air cleaner, disconnect the ignition and unplug the wiring to the inlet air temperature sensor(s) on the same side of the air cleaner. Loosen the screw drivers and remove the mounting nuts which attach the lower section of the air cleaner to the inlet manifold or fuel distributor unit, then unclip the air cleaner cover, unscrew the holding nuts, and pull out the filter element. Once all securing screws or nuts are removed, loosen the lower part of the air cleaner and if it has a breather hose, undo it but retrieve the rubber seal. To refit, reverse the steps you used to remove and make sure that the rubber seal between the air cleaner and fuel distributor is firmly in place.
