Before taking off the camshaft cover remove the battery negative lead and air cleaner. Where applicable, disconnect breather hose or hoses, and disconnect wires and hoses of the clamps and label where they were found, then disinvest the hose or hoses attached to the camshaft cover. Be sure the spark plug HT leads are numbered; otherwise, score them so that they can be refitted correctly and then disconnect the lead to the spark plugs. Un-clip the HT lead covers on the camshaft cover and shift them aside, placing them on the distributor side of the engine. With automatic transmission models, untown the transmission dipstick tube of the fastener, and unscrew the connecting bolts after which the camshaft cover can be lifted off the
Cylinder Head dealy without damaging it. Take the cover off and retrieve the gasket and disk(s) used in sealing it. Refuting, check the gasket and seals, replace when needed and position the seals properly. Install the gasket into the rims of the camshaft cover, install the cover over the civilian head, re-fit the securing bolts, turning them to the desired torque in increased steps. Install fresh HT leads and covers, reconnecting them to the right spark plugs; reconnecting any breather hose (s) and wiring. Lastly, re-fit the air cleaner, reconnect battery negative lead, start the engine and verify that there is no leaking oil around the cover.
