To change the rocker arms, disconnect the battery negative cable then detach the camshaft cover back. Check the longer by taking the camshaft lobe off the rocker arms in stages, gradually turning the engine with a wrench or socket in the crankshaft pulley until all the group of rockers are clear, working forward first. Each group of these commonly contains two rocker arms unless on five-cylinder engines where the rear group contains three. Check by feeling to see that the rockers move freely; touch them as you do. Then take the bolts out and pick the front rocker arm group up off the engine, remembering to keep the rocker arms and bolts sorted out to fit back. Where needed, tap the rocker towers out of the cylinder head with a mallet, made of rubber. On the rear rocker arm groups, the rear valve may need to be backed off the eccentric to release the pressure on the camshaft, but the wrenchette should not be removed since it would allow the valve spring collar to rotate. To install, put the rocker assemblies into position and make sure they fit correctly on the protrusions on the top of the cylinder head then attach and connect the rocker arm bolts to a given torque. Last but not least: correct the valve clearances, fit the camshaft cover, and re-attach the battery.
