Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Remove the center console and the center trim panel. Take out the radio and GPS display. Free the CAN connector from the left side lower trim cover and pass it through the cover, unplugging the diagnostic connector after lowering the panel. Unbolt the hood latch lever from the cover and pass it through. Remove the screws from the left side lower trim cover, lower it away from the instrument panel, disengage the data link connector, and remove the cover from the vehicle. Take out the headlight switch from the instrument cluster trim panel. Remove the panel mounting bolts, free the lower edge of the panel with a trim stick, and pull it out far enough to access the ignition switch and parking brake pedal. Remove the ignition switch from the panel, disconnect the cable from the parking brake pedal, and then take the panel out. For center air vents, disengage the lower stops, pivot the vents upward to expose and remove the screws, disengage the upper stops, pivot the vents downward, and remove the vent and housing assembly. For side air vents, reach inside to release the latch, pivot the vent downward, and release the clips to take it out. Some models have a one-piece center trim panel surrounding the radio and air conditioning controls; remove the center air vents, ashtray housing, release the center panel latches, pivot the panel away, unplug its wiring connectors, and take it out as a unit. For a two-piece center trim, remove the console and ashtray housing, then the screws, carefully pry the trim panel out with the HVAC control panel, and unplug the electrical connectors. For the upper section, remove the center air vents, the screws, and carefully pry the panel out. Remove the center console, center trim panel(s), and radio. Remove the screws securing the cover under the right side of the instrument panel and lower it down. Detach the side cover from the right side of the instrument panel, unplug the electrical connector for the glove compartment light, and remove the radio and center navigation panel. Remove the upper center console cover and the bolts securing the glove compartment to the instrument panel, then lower the glove compartment. For side covers, carefully pry the side cover away from the instrument panel and to install, press the side cover back into place.
