This operation cannot be done unless clean and dust-free conditions could be realised. Lift the car and place it on axle stands so that it is level. Where necessary cut off the body undershield to reach the transmission. Push the transmission selector lever to the position of P. Clean with a paper towel the tongue of the transmission fluid (especially around the drain plug, the pan-to-transmission securing bolts and the pan-to-transmission joint).
