These models have multiple types of engine and transmission mounts as well as shock absorbers that reduce chassis vibrations caused by the diesel engine. Engine mounts and shock absorbers could be changed without having to remove the engine/transmission. Visually inspect the state of the rubber mounts by bending a bar to it to determine whether it is hard, split or no longer connected to the backing metal, liquid leakage means damaged seals and shock absorber replacement. Start by removing the negative cable of the battery followed the next step of elevating the vehicle mounted on jackstands. A jack is used to hold the engine or transmission in place, take out the retaining bolts and install another mount. As long as the engine is held, one can replace the shock absorber by simply holding on to the shaft using a wrench to avoid twisting of the shock absorber, loosening the nuts located at the two ends of the shafts, adhering to this and attaching the new shock absorber.
