To change a camshaft front oil seal, unremark the cooling fan shroud and then position a shroud over a fan blade. Unclip the cover on the distributor cap, where possible, remove the coil HT lead, unscrew the three retaining screws and off the distributor cap taking the HT leads and send-outs with you. Unscrew the three screws that secure the distributor rotor arm, and unscrew the distributor rotor arm drive sleeve by one securing bolt. Unclip the cover on the front of the upper timing cover as per, if necessary. Gently scrape off the old oil seal with a screwdriver or drill a small hole and insert a self-tapping screw with pliers holding on to the scroll without damaging the oil seal house. Wipe off clean the oil seal and the front of the camshaft. These can be damaged during installation so on the day of installation, apply thin plastic or taping around the camshaft flange. Install the new dry oil seal by tapping into place between a tube or socket until it is flat against the outer face of the timing frame cover. Where applicable, strip the plastic or tape sights off the camshaft and then re-fit the cover to the upper timing chain cover, then the rotor arm drive sleeve ensuring it aligns well with the camshaft lug. Install the drive sleeve with its bolt, screw it to the required torque and re-connect the rotor arm and its securing screws. Then reconnect the coil HT lead and distributor cap and complete by refitting the cooling fan shroud. In case of the crankshaft front oil seal remove crankshaft pulley/vibration damper and hub, a depth of the installed oil seal is measured, and remove crankshaft with a hooked tool or screwdriver protecting crankshaft with rag. Visually inspect the oil seal housing, wipe the new oil seal into the clean engine oil, and pop the housing and place the targeted depth of the new oil seal with a utilization of the requisite tube or socket and also shield the crankshaft with plastic or tape. Before replacing again remove the plastic or tape around the crankshaft pulley/vibration damper and hub where needed. On the crankshaft rear oil seal component, take off the flywheel/ driveplate, inspect the oil seal contact surface detail to determine any harm and wash the oil seal housing and crankshaft component, contact surface. Wet the new oil seal by applying clean engine oil and pushing it into the housing to the specified depth, being sure to place it with right angles to the flange of the crankshaft to make sure it is clearly sealed, then take off protective plastic or tapes before replacement of the flywheel/driveplate.
